How far would you go to protect the ones you love? Romerick lives. Rescued by a team of spies and brought back to a hidden realm, Romerick awakens to be offered a choice. Should he return to Ravelle – the girl he loves who believes him dead, and now reigns in Harlyndia as queen? Or should he join his rescuers on a dangerous mission – one great effort to prevent the impending invasion of evil before it begins? With a small group of friends and rivals, Romerick journeys deep into the dark heart of the Old World to circumvent the amassing armies of savage men – but what he encounters there is more powerful still. For the Old World is a place of old magic; and sometimes the deadliest enemies are the ones that you cannot touch. Pursued by barbarian hordes, Nimrosyn assassins, and creatures of the night as they cross an alien and unforgiving land, Romerick must follow the path of the forsaken in hope of defeating the invincible Nephilim. If he succeeds it may still cost his life, but if he fails there will be no one to save Ravelle and her people from extinction. Path of the Forsaken is the second book in the Last Light Saga, an epic fantasy that seamlessly spins world history, Celtic mythology, and Eastern cosmology into an adventure of heart and soul.

Path of the Forsaken The Harlyndia Saga David Gray Rodgers Books

The sequel was better written than the first book, but could still use spellcheck and proofreading. The main character makes satisfying progress and the story has enough twists and turns to be a page turner.

The two major -ve aspects were -
1. The story is told from Romerick's point of view exclusively. While Romerick is the most 'happening' character, some chapters from Ravelle's point of view and the war preprations would have rounded up the book nicely.

2. I don't understand why Romerick does not send word of his continued existence to Ravelle. Many Children go on missions and a letter could easily have been sent. It seems like a forced attempt to add a sense of drama to the story.

Still was a good read for a cheap price. Awaiting the next book eagerly.
